The Quai des Bergues Midnight in Geneva M celebrates the inauguration of Czapek's new flagship boutique on the emblematic Quai des Bergues, where François Czapek opened his first watchmaking atelier in Geneva. For the occasion, the Maison revisits that founding story with a new interpretation, whose deep blue aventurine dial is now housed in a 40.5 mm case.

A NIGHT SKY IN AVENTURINE

The dial is crafted from dark blue aventurine glass, its surface animated by mineral reflections that recall a clear Geneva night. In the 40.5 mm format, its construction becomes especially demanding. Rather than carving recesses into the fragile material, the dial is cut through for the small seconds and power reserve displays, revealing sub-dials mounted with remarkable precision on the metal plate beneath it.

THE NEW 40.5MM

The new 40.5 mm stainless steel case preserves the defining codes of Quai des Bergues: its curved profile, characteristic lugs and sapphire caseback. Its architecture has been refined around the movement, while the slope of the lugs has been adjusted to improve how the watch settles on the wrist. The result feels familiar in identity, yet more compact, balanced and versatile on the wrist.

EIGHTEEN BY DESIGN

The Quai des Bergues Midnight in Geneva is once again limited to 18 pieces, a number that refers to Rue de la Corraterie 18, the address of Czapek’s first modern Geneva boutique. Beneath the aventurine dial beats the hand-wound Calibre SXH1, the Maison’s proprietary movement with a seven-day power reserve.

THE MOVEMENT

The SXH1 caliber is a proprietary movement designed by Czapek. It is the first in a family of movements developed specifically for Czapek watches, according to the strictest rules of the watchmaking art. It was conceived in cooperation with Le Locle based company Chronode. This manually wound movement has two barrel springs, ensuring 7 days of power reserve and runs at a rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour, (3 Hertz). It features an annular balance wheel with weights for variable inertia and a Breguet terminal curve balance spring. The balance cock has been finely skeletonized and streamlined to give the whole balance greater transparency. It is finely decorated and remains aesthetically and functionally true to the 1850 original. The architecture remains symmetrical, and the sandblasted finish is a modern interpretation of the ‘satiné frost’ technique used in the 19th Century.

DIAMETER 40,5 MM

This watch has a diameter of 40.5 mm. The proportions of a watch are always very subjective, but we recommend this piece if you have a wrist circumference greater than 16.5 cm.

7 DAYS POWER RESERVE

This timepiece has a 7-days power reserve. A power-reserve indicator tells you when it's time to wind your watch.

MANUAL WINDING

This timepiece must be wound manually. Your power-reserve indicator lets you know how much power is left.

WATER RESISTANCE

This watch is water-resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM). We don't recommend baths and showers!

LIMITED EDITION

This model is a limited edition of 18 pieces. Others will be available through our retail network. Once reached, it won’t be orderable nor produced anymore!

3 YEARS WARRANTY

Every Czapek timepiece goes through rigorous quality controls and extensive testing. Therefore, all our watches sold through our official retail partners or directly come with a 3-year international product warranty.
